Training Basics

Below are links to series of videos which cover some of the basics of conditioning that we recommend that all runners incorporate in their training; post-run stretching, running drills and circuit training. These videos were recorded in the early months of the Covid lockdown to provide a reminder of the various routines that we followed during regular Harriers training pre-covid and also to provide some entertainment.

The Harriers Circuit Training

Stretching should be done after every run (not before!). During your warm-up for a session, do a few of the drills. The drills train the neural part of the system, making sure that the muscles required to run efficiently fire at the correct time and automatically, improving efficiency of motion. The circuits are all body weight exercises and develop muscle condition and core stability, again helping with running efficiency and reducing the chance of injury.
